Microchannelling

Procell Microchanneling is a minimally invasive, non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment that uses micro-filaments to create tiny microchannels in the skin, triggering a natural collagen and elastin response. The treatment also includes the application of growth factor serums that can penetrate deeper through the microchannels, enhancing healing and stimulating collagen production.

Microchanneling is a milder form of microneedling with less downtime, no bleeding, and often similar results.

This treatment is great for all skin types and for reducing acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks, and improving skin texture/tone.

Typically, a series of 3–6 treatments is recommended, with sessions held every 3–4 weeks for optimal, cumulative results.

How important is the use of aftercare products?

Microchanneling stimulates the body to release peptides, cytokines, and growth factors that induce collagen production. As we age, the stem cells that produce these vital proteins lose efficacy and decline in population, so microchanneling alone can only be so effective. The use of aftercare products is vital to ensure the skin receives potent, robust, and pristine peptides, cytokines, and growth factors continuously between treatments. Microchanneling without serums is like exercising without eating healthy. Results can be good with treatments alone, but are significantly amplified with aftercare products.

What are the recommended aftercare products?

To experience optimal results, it is highly recommended to use Aftercare Products at home. This dynamic two-step skin rejuvenation system will revitalize your complexion and increase the benefits of Microchanneling.

Who can have this treatment?

Microchanneling is minimally invasive and good for all skin types. It is important to treat active inflammatory conditions, such as dermatitis or severe acne, before beginning treatment.

Who should not have this treatment?

Microchanneling might not be suitable for certain individuals due to the inflammatory response it triggers.

 It is not recommended for:

  • Anyone pregnant or nursing
  • Anyone with unstable diabetes because of potential healing problems
  • Anyone with active Herpes Simplex in the treatment area
  • Anyone with extremely dry skin. An esthetician can properly recommend what to do to get skin into a hydrated state before beginning treatments
  • Anyone with an active inflammatory skin condition.
  • Eczema, psoriasis, infection, rash, or any type of dermatitis in the treatment area
  • Anyone allergic to steel
  • Anyone allergic to aloe vera
  • Anyone undergoing radiation or chemotherapy
  • Hemophilia patients
  • Individuals prone to keloids
  • Those regularly on blood thinners or immunosuppressants

How long before I can expect to see results?

Though the production of new collagen can take several weeks, you may notice improvement in the quality and appearance of skin within the first 24 hours. After 2-3 treatments, a thicker, more robust, collagen-filled cellular matrix will produce more consistent and noticeable results.

What aftercare instructions should I be aware of?

IMMEDIATELY POST-TREATMENT (0-90 Minutes)

During this critical time, the microchannels remain temporarily open, and the barrier function of the outermost

layer of the skin may be compromised, making the skin vulnerable to external irritants, bacteria, and any

topically applied products.

BE CAREFUL NOT TO:

  • Touch the treated area with your hands, or other objects such as cell phones, clothing, etc.
  • Allow the treated area to contact pillows, bedding, or any other fabric surfaces.
  • Apply any products to the treated skin unless they are provided by your certified Procell practitioner during the treatment session.
  • Apply makeup directly to treated skin.
  • Expose treated skin to direct sunlight.

Any unnecessary contact during this period increases the risk of introducing bacteria or potential allergens and

irritants into the open microchannels, which can compromise healing and results. Makeup on untreated areas, such as mascara or lip products are acceptable.

POST-TREATMENT (90 Minutes to 24 Hours)

YOU CAN:

  • Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) after, once the initial post-treatment window has

passed and the microchannels are beginning to close.

AVOID:

  • Saunas, steam rooms, and very hot showers that cause excessive vasodilation.
  • Vigorous exercise, workouts, or activities that produce excessive sweating.
  • Swimming pools, hot tubs, or bodies of water (chlorine, salt, and bacteria can irritate healing skin).
  • Direct sun exposure without adequate protection.
  • Applying makeup directly to treated skin for at least 24 hours after your treatment. This includes foundation, concealer, and any other products

Heat and sweating can increase inflammation and interfere with the controlled healing response we are trying to achieve. Additionally, sweat contains salt and metabolic byproducts that can irritate newly treated skin.
